About MPP

Midnight Phoenix Publishing began with a simple idea: education can change the way we understand and care for ourselves.

As a physician and public health professional, I wanted to create stories that captured the same sense of curiosity I remember from childhood. Programs and characters like The Magic School Bus, Smokey Bear, and D.A.R.E. took important topics and made them understandable, memorable, and engaging for young people. I wanted to bring that same spirit to health and science.

That vision became the Adventures of Nyomi. Stories designed to introduce children to health, science, safety, and the human body while giving parents opportunities to learn and start conversations alongside them. At its heart, the series is another form of advocacy. When children understand their bodies and families have access to health information they can understand, they are better equipped to ask questions, make informed decisions, and take an active role in their health.

For me, that is public health in action: education as a form of primary prevention.

As an independent author, creating my own publishing company felt like the natural next step. It gave me the freedom to tell the stories I believed needed telling and to collaborate with independent illustrators, designers, editors, and other creative professionals who could help bring those ideas to life.

But Midnight Phoenix Publishing is growing beyond my own stories.

What started as a home for one children's series is becoming a platform for independent voices, emerging authors, and original ideas. We want to help other creators bring their visions to life and give readers a place to discover books and authors they may not find on the traditional bestseller shelf.

Midnight Phoenix Publishing is where independent stories are given room to rise.
